The advancing waves

 

The waves come gushing onto shore

Silently they recede with the footmarks

The castles,  etched names and succinct prayers

These all the waves carry when they tip toe

Only to confound the succeeding ones

When their charge is entangled in the distraction 

The advancing waves that remain focused 

They ride the advancing chariots by overlapping 

The futile treasures of the fickle shore 

Then they vault over the preceding ones

And cross the unfettered domains in the sand.

In finite

 

When I am restrained in finite 

Your horizons remain infinite

Frigid from afar , molten within

Glittering sun from the façade

Sparkling jewels deep down 

The retreat from my broken shore

Back to the realms where sun sets

The sails are reduced to specks 

Of multiple hues where sky falls

Dark , wild and unpredictable 

Once under the deceptive moon.

The flicker

 

Amidst the surging peril towards dusk

While the flame blazed under the sun

Now with elongated shadows of the day

The breeze that nourished the sparkle

Swells into a rampaging tempest

Conspires with the swarming clouds

And conjures up the startled chime

While the twilight stretches his palm

To smother the floundering fluorescence

The flicker that is sown in residual dreams

Gasps to clutch the brim with a frantic might

Never to fade till the last drop in her lamp.

She prefers to remain ignorant 

Of the frequent sigh here and there

When she attracts many an eye

The deserving cynosure of all attention 

Like an alighted drop of dew from dream

She dazzles when resonating the ray

Dangles on a vibrant flower in breeze

When the buzz softly caresses past her

A smile feigns ignorance of the touch 

The word reflects the rainbow from the sky

On drawing close it echoes the hue of eye

But bursts the clutch of an unuttered vow 

A tacit hope emitted by the chosen ignorance.

The inverted night

 

The moon is ravine tonight

As I stare into the deep skies

Spread over and alabaster bed

The night smiles and softly lies

The orb wrapped in black garb

Moves deftly mounted on his sleigh

Criss cross the visible pane of my sky

Interspersed with the blink of blind

The lashes that close her dazzling eyes

When dreamy days awake sleepless

And plunge deep into inverted nights.

A taterred book

Unbound brittle pages

When one is turned over

The edge comes off in hand

While the residual piece remains

Unmoved from the scrap

A few wrappers of candy

So well devoured that these

Were preserved as souvenir 

A brown twig of dried flower

Kept with prayers and an unsaid vow

An embarrassing result of exam

Forsaken to a forgettable nook

A few cassettes that lightened the soul

Brightened the eye and thumped the heart

Some photographs colored in black and white

When we could pose only once for a click

A half full bottle of treasured perfume

And the vibrant wrapper with tag

The indelible name read a million times

Confessions and diaries of innocence 

Flushed with regrets of a lesser sin

The timeless mystery of cached days

Unearthed by the seasoned self

That finds ways to prove virtue

Even amidst deliberate measures of vice

What treasures we have garnered till now

Having discarded that last specks of scrap?

Aah, it pains when pricked

To bear the pinch of a sharp edge

The abrasion into deeper tissue

The moistened eye and shriek of pain

When being adorned for a savory moment

While the saliva overflows at the sight 

Of a pinch of spice over my corpse

Decked up in a shroud of a wrap

That conceals the blood and life

Cleaned before it touches your platter.
